South Sudan’s U23 national team defeated Juba Football Association First Division side Simba FC 2-1 in a friendly match at Bulluk Playground in Juba on Tuesday morning.
The encounter formed part of the team's preparations for the upcoming U23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign, which offers a route towards the men's football tournament at the LA 2028 Olympic Games.
Head coach Simon James is using the friendly matches to prepare his squad ahead of the qualifying challenge, with the victory over Simba FC providing a positive result for the young Bright Stars.
The match also gave the U23 side an opportunity to test themselves against domestic opposition as preparations continue.
For Simba FC, the encounter provided valuable competition against national-team players as the JFA First Division side continues its own football campaign.
