JUBA - Patriots head coach Suzan Awal has credited God, her players, coaching staff, management and supporters after guiding the team to the 2025/2026 Central Equatoria State Basketball Association championship.

Patriots sealed the title with a 91–79 victory over Juba Bulls at the Nimra Talata Basketball Court in Juba on Monday night, completing a 2–0 playoff series sweep.

Speaking exclusively to Sports Hunter South Sudan after the final, Awal began by giving thanks to God for guiding the team throughout the season.

“Honestly, I want to first say it’s God. From day one of the start-up until this time now, I have to give thanks to God.”

The Patriots coach praised her players for their discipline and commitment throughout the campaign, while also acknowledging the work and sacrifices made by the coaching staff and team management.

“I want to appreciate my players for being disciplined throughout the season until we reached this time. I also want to thank the coaching staff led by me, and all the management for the sacrifice to make sure players get to training and get transport back home.”

Awal said she was proud of the group and suggested that the championship could be the beginning of greater ambitions for Patriots.

“I am so excited and proud of this win, for the group I was working with. Honestly, we are looking forward to something bigger than this.”

She reserved her strongest praise, however, for the Patriots supporters, describing them as the backbone of the team for their unwavering support throughout the season.

“Our fans have really been the backbone of the team. They put in a lot of work. Every time they are leaving their jobs, they come to support the team. Honestly, we do it for them. They have been behind us whether we are losing or winning. They are always showing up.”

Awal’s Patriots now celebrate a memorable domestic campaign, crowned Central Equatoria State champions after an unbeaten 2–0 playoff series against Juba Bulls.
