JUBA - The South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF) has appointed Belgian-Congolese tactician N’Sengi Biembe Christian as the new head coach of the senior national team, the Bright Stars.
Biembe has signed a one-year contract reportedly worth $150,000, equivalent to approximately $12,500 per month, with an option for an extension based on his performance and progress with the national team.
The experienced coach arrives with a strong background in both club and international football. He has previously served as head coach of the DR Congo national team, while also working with the youth setup at Anderlecht in Belgium.
His coaching career has also included spells with AS Vita Club and the DR Congo U23 national team, giving him experience at both domestic and international levels.
Biembe takes charge at a crucial period for the Bright Stars, with South Sudan preparing for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and other upcoming international assignments.
His immediate task will be to improve the team's competitiveness and establish a clear tactical identity, while also building a stronger foundation for the future of South Sudanese football.
Beyond results, the new technical setup is expected to place emphasis on player development, strengthening the national-team structure and improving local coaching capacity through training, mentorship and knowledge transfer.
Biembe is expected to begin his official duties during the next FIFA international window, with the Bright Stars scheduled to travel to face Malawi before hosting Egypt.
His appointment marks a new chapter for South Sudan's senior men's national team, with hopes that his international experience and technical expertise can help the Bright Stars make further progress on the African football stage.
