TORIT, South Sudan — Juba Football Association First Division side Al Huriya FC have arrived in Torit, Eastern Equatoria State, as preparations intensify ahead of the 2026/27 football season.
Known as The Flames, Al Huriya have travelled to Torit for a pre-season camp that will include five friendly matches as head coach Samuel Gabriel continues to assess his squad and build towards the new campaign.
The Flames are scheduled to open their Torit programme against a Torit United mixed team on 17 August, before facing Volcano FC on 18 August and Hinatie FC on 19 August. Their fourth match will be against Young Stars on 20 August, with all four games expected to take place at Torit Freedom Square.
Al Huriya will conclude the trip with a final friendly against Liria All Stars on 21 August in Liria, before returning to Juba.
Sixteen training sessions completed
Al Huriya began their pre-season preparations on 26 July 2026, completing 16 training sessions before playing their first warm-up match.
Their opening pre-season test came against Future Stars Football Academy U20 on 12 August, with the match ending in a 0–0 draw.
The Torit camp now provides Gabriel and his technical staff with another opportunity to evaluate the squad, test different tactical approaches and build match fitness ahead of competitive football.
Two major competitions ahead
Al Huriya are preparing to compete in both the South Sudan Cup and the Juba Football Association First Division League, popularly known as the Konyokonyo League, during the 2026/27 season.
With five matches in five days planned in Eastern Equatoria, the Torit tour is expected to be an important part of the Flames' final preparations.
The focus for Gabriel's side will be on fitness, tactical organisation, squad depth and building momentum before the competitive season gets underway.
