Three South Sudan Referees Depart for Kigali for CECAFA African Schools Championship
SSFF referees Sarafina Abe Augustino, Akoon Kueh Yai and Nicola Bazilio Girjuak travelled by Eco Bus alongside South Sudan’s U-15 teams for the CECAFA Zone Qualifiers.
Juba, South Sudan — August 31, 2026: Three South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF) referees travelled from Juba to Kigali, Rwanda, by Eco Bus on Monday morning, alongside the South Sudan Boys’ and Girls’ U-15 national teams.
The officials are part of the South Sudan delegation heading to Rwanda for the African Schools Football Championship CECAFA Zone Qualifiers, where they have been selected to officiate matches during the regional tournament.
The three referees are:
- Sarafina Abe Augustino
- Akoon Kueh Yai
- Nicola Bazilio Girjuak
Their selection gives the South Sudanese officials an opportunity to gain further international experience while contributing to the officiating of the regional youth competition.
The CECAFA qualifiers bring together school football teams from across East and Central Africa, with participating sides competing for qualification to the continental finals.
South Sudan will be represented by both its Boys’ and Girls’ U-15 national teams, who travelled with the delegation on Monday morning.
The tournament will also provide an important platform for the development of young players and match officials across the region.
