Kigali Rwanda- South Sudan’s U15 girls begin their CAF African Schools Football Championship CECAFA qualifiers campaign today, facing hosts Rwanda at the Kigali Pele Stadium.
Coach Lilian Prima’s side kick off their Group A campaign at 10:00am, with South Sudan aiming to make a strong start against the tournament hosts.
The Young Bright Starlets will then face Burundi at 2:00pm today before completing their group-stage fixtures against Uganda at 10:00am tomorrow, with all three matches taking place at the Kigali Pele Stadium.
The outcome of the group stage will determine South Sudan’s route into the semi-finals.
Should South Sudan finish top of Group A, they will face the Group B runners-up at 2:00pm tomorrow.
A second-place finish in Group A would see them face the Group B winners in the semi-finals at 1:00pm tomorrow.
The tournament concludes on 5 September, with the semi-final winners advancing to the final at 11:00am at the Kigali Pele Stadium.
The losing semi-finalists will instead contest the third-place play-off at 9:00am on the same day.
With three group matches compressed into a demanding schedule, South Sudan will need to manage their squad carefully while producing results against three strong opponents.
For Lilian Prima’s team, the immediate focus is on Rwanda and securing a positive opening result before turning their attention to Burundi later in the day.
South Sudan’s journey begins in Kigali as the U15 girls look to progress from Group A and challenge for continental honours.
