The South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF) has announced a 58-player preliminary squad for the South Sudan U-20 national team ahead of the CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers – CECAFA Zone.

Head coach John Alier announced the provisional squad on Friday, 28 August 2026, as the Bright Stars begin preparations for the regional qualifiers, scheduled to run from 16 September to 10 October 2026.

The squad includes eight goalkeepers, 14 defenders, 16 midfielders and 20 forwards, giving the technical team a broad pool of young talent to assess ahead of the competition.

The preliminary squad will undergo further evaluation before the final list is confirmed for the CECAFA qualifiers.

Alier and his technical staff are expected to assess the players' form, fitness and readiness during the preparation period before selecting the final squad to represent South Sudan.

The CECAFA qualifiers represent an important opportunity for South Sudan's emerging talents to gain international experience and compete for a place at the CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
