JUBA, South Sudan — Malakia entered the encounter looking to make an immediate response after suffering a surprise 1-0 defeat to league newcomers Munuki SC in Week 2.
Al Hilal, meanwhile, arrived seeking to recover from a 3-1 loss to Wajuma FC, but it was the Royal Club who took control of the contest.
Joel Bola opened the scoring for Malakia in the 24th minute, before Kabwansongo Ngal doubled their advantage in first-half stoppage time to give the Juba-based side a 2-0 lead at the break.
Al Hilal reduced the deficit nine minutes after the restart, with Kabaka finding the net in the 54th minute to briefly give the Wau-based side hope.
Malakia, however, responded almost immediately.
Mugahid Abase restored the two-goal advantage in the 57th minute, before Lokecha Michael added a fourth 10 minutes later.
With Al Hilal unable to find a response, Kennedy Juma put the result beyond doubt in the 80th minute, completing a convincing 5-1 victory for Coach Musadiq Ahmed's side.
The win moves Malakia temporarily to the top of the South Sudan Premier League with six points, level on points with Jamus SC but ahead on goal difference. Jamus, however, have a game in hand.
Al Hilal remain sixth on three points, with the defeat marking their second consecutive loss after their setback against Wajuma.
For Malakia, the emphatic victory provides the perfect response to their Week 2 disappointment and strengthens their early position at the top of the table.
