Jamus SC, popularly known as the Buffaloes, will face newly promoted Super Stars SC, the Skyrockers, in a historic 2026/27 South Sudan Premier League clash at the Bulluk Playground in Juba on Sunday evening.
The fixture will mark the first meeting between Jamus SC and Super Stars SC in all competitions, adding further significance to the Premier League encounter.
Jamus enter the match on the back of a historic CECAFA Kagame Cup campaign, where they reached the semi-finals and finished fourth—their best-ever finish in the regional competition.
Under new head coach Saber Ben Jabria, the Buffaloes will be looking to make a winning start to their domestic campaign. The Tunisian coach, appointed in June, has already faced Rayon Sports in an international friendly, with Jamus narrowly losing 4-3 in July.
Jamus subsequently made history in the CECAFA Kagame Cup by reaching the last four. Their campaign ended with back-to-back defeats against eventual champions Rayon Sports in the semi-final and Al Hilal SC in the third-place play-off.
The Buffaloes will now turn their attention to the South Sudan Premier League, with an opportunity to move to the top of the early standings after defending champions El Merriekh SC Bentiu opened their title defence with a 2-2 draw against fellow newcomers Munuki SC.
Super Stars Begin Premier League Journey
Super Stars SC arrive in Juba with confidence after securing promotion to the South Sudan Premier League following an impressive domestic campaign.
The Skyrockers won the Bor Football Association First Division League before going on to win the final promotion stage of the South Sudan National League, earning their place among the country's top-flight clubs.
They will begin life in the Premier League under interim head coach Abdul Majid Sabri Alli, who was officially announced by the club on Saturday.
Sabri's first assignment comes against Jamus, the inaugural South Sudan Premier League champions, giving the newly promoted side an immediate test against one of the country's historic clubs.
Despite being newcomers, Super Stars will be hoping their successful promotion campaign provides the foundation for a positive start to their top-flight journey.
A Historic First Encounter
With no previous meetings between the two clubs, Sunday's match will be the first-ever Jamus SC vs Super Stars SC encounter in all competitions.
Jamus will be targeting three points as they look to build on their continental success, while Super Stars will be seeking to announce themselves in the South Sudan Premier League with a statement result.
Jamus SC vs Super Stars SC promises to be a historic opening chapter between the Buffaloes and the Skyrockers.
