JUBA, South Sudan — Somalia champions Heegan SC held their latest training session at the Juba National Stadium on Monday as they continued preparations for the second leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary-round tie against El Merriekh SC Bentiu.
Heegan travel into Saturday's decisive encounter trailing 1-0 after suffering a narrow defeat to the South Sudan Premier League champions in the first leg on Saturday.
Tot Maet scored the only goal of the match, heading home from a corner in the 10th minute to give the Bentiu-based side a crucial advantage.
The result leaves Heegan needing to score in the return leg to keep their hopes of progressing in the competition alive, while El Merriekh will look to protect their slender lead on home soil.
Monday's training session at the Juba National Stadium formed part of Heegan's preparations for the highly anticipated second leg, scheduled for Saturday.
With only one goal separating the two sides, the return fixture promises another closely contested encounter as both teams fight for a place in the next stage of the CAF Champions League.
